For the first time Russia was hosting the Law Firm Network regional (Europe and Asia) conference. Being a global international association of independent law firms and covering more than 40 jurisdictions, The Law Firm Network for over 20 years organizes meetings in different parts of the world. The current, thirty-first conference, for the first time was held in Moscow and it was organized by Westside Advisors Law Firm, the Russian LFN member. Participants of the conference in Moscow were partners of a 17 law firms from 15 countries, arbitrators and legal scholars.

Special guest of the conference – Miles Jobling, British Telecom head of legal department that was transformed to a separate law firm - BT Law. Mr. Jobling was a speaker at the MGIMO-university afternoon session, on the topic concerning changes in the English legal market regulation caused by the Legal services Act 2007.

The purpose of the conference was to discuss practical issues of legal support of transnational business through the example of The Law Firm Network as one of the most successful international associations of law firms.


The International Insolvency and Restructuring Guide was presented by the Law Firm Network at the afternoon session, copies were donated to MGIMO Academic Library.

The International Insolvency and Restructuring Guide covers 34 jurisdictions and has been compiled by The Law Firm Network members experienced in the practical aspects of restructuring and insolvency.
The Guide provides a summary of the relevant restructuring or insolvency regimes in each jurisdiction where The Law Firm Network has a presence.
The Guide will help companies which are facing financial difficulties, as well as creditors of those companies, understand the different laws and appreciate the practical issues that may arise in the jurisdictions covered.
